Giving Online to the Natural Reserve System

The mission of the University of California Natural Reserve System is to contribute to the understanding and wise management of the Earth and its natural systems by supporting university-level teaching, research, and public service at protected natural areas throughout California.

UC Santa Barbara manages seven diverse reserves including the Carpinteria Salt Marsh Reserve, Coal Oil Point Reserve, K.S. Norris Rancho Marino Reserve, Santa Cruz Island Reserve, Sedgwick Reserve, and the Valentine Eastern Sierra Reserve (Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Laboratory & Valentine Camp).

Most reserves are highly dependent on private support to maintain their K-12 outreach programs, staffing and general upkeep. Your donation can make a tremendous difference. You may also wish to support the UC Santa Barbara Natural Reserve System (UCSB NRS) which administers the seven reserves. These funds support efforts to increase awareness of the UCSB NRS, among other initiatives to strengthen the UCSB Natural Reserve System.

If you have any questions about other ways you can support the reserves; such as making a gift of appreciated stock, a gift-in-kind, or planned gift, please contact Sandi White at (805) 893-3988 or

If you are having problems with this page and/or can't find the fund/area to which you wish to give please call (805) 893-2112 for personal assistance, or e-mail
